BOARD MEETING MINUTES: August 30, 2011
Minutes for Board Meeting of Missionary Independent Spiritual Church 8/30/11, 2pm - 3:30pm Attending were: Briana Saussy Sind Todo Fred Burke catherine yronwode nagasiva yronwode by phone conference. ========================================== 1. AIRR REPORTS a. Evaluation of Marin Graves (Reading/Interview) The evaluation committee consisted of Fred Burke, Valentina Burton and Briana Saussy; catherine did the reading. http://www.readersandrootworkers.org/index.php?title=Marin_Graves Reading The interview was concluded with very good results. catherine did reading with her. Marin did not recommend rootwork, candle services; only did a reading, but she requested feedback and was quite professional as a reader. Marin said that KEEN experience predisposed her to avoid that kind of activity. She was informed that this would be important for AIRR members, but otherwise performed excellently. Interview This also went very well. Marin was professional and candid. She's working on her website (under construction). Photograph suggestions were helpful to her (bars of soap) and she will be adding changes to her page/photographs. She wants to use AIRR to draw rootwork clients. Her website indicates readings. She was a paralegal in Nevada City NV (and thus is fond of court case help); She needs to direct her page(s) toward specialization, and 60/70$ difference of reading rates needs to be reconciled. Overall she provided the information requested and was very satisfactory as a candidate. VOTES = 5 YES VOTES --------------------------- b. He's done rootwork for a long time, conducted a reading with catherine with very good results. He's a spiritualist medium and is used to doing in-person readings. He has an excellent telephone manner. He plans to open a shop (based in Alabama). Interview This went very well also. Entertainment readings. His grandmother role in his life influenced him. His manner is genteel, excellent phone style, knowledge. A Southern gentleman. Photos for his page are under revision. His personal pages to be revised toward more specifically rootwork standards. He travels, and does a lot of work in lot person. VOTES = 5 YES VOTES --------------------------- c. Tech Team Meetings Best time for catherine and Briana is 10am PT Tuesdays. catherine, Eddy, and Ali will negotiate another time. Next project: JEFFREY / MARIN. ========================================== 2. AFFILIATION COMMITTEE (Set-Up) a. Head of Committee and Volunteers In order to streamline requests for affiliation, does the Board wish to create an Affiliation Committee to investigate requests for affiliation and report findings to the Board for review and vote? Head of Affiliation Committee: catherine yronwode Volunteers part of the committee: nagasiva, Briana (not Tue/Thurs), and Fred VOTES = 5 YES VOTES --------------------------- b. Yearly Disks for Affiliate Church Pastors Proposal to streamline updates to pastor materials such as booklets for printing and distribution, church fans, membership cards, ordination papers, warrants of affiliation, and so forth: * Ordination papers to be sent upon request, not at the first of the year. * Warrants of Affiliation to be sent upon formal acceptance into the denomination, not at the first of the year. * All other materials to be sent in yearly packets, including fans and pdf discs with updates to booklets, cards, and other material available for local printing and distribution. VOTES = 5 YES VOTES ======================== 3. FAN FUND Report from the Fan Committee on the status of the fans: 4 of 5 are in now. The last one is to be completed. Yesterday final specifications were provided to the manufacturer: Jesus with Lambs. ========================== 4. CRYSTAL SILENCE LEAGUE Newsletter Under construction by Jeffrey Vanderson Social network sites CSL Fb page 200+ fans. Sindy will speak with catherine or nagasiva about social networking sites. Web site Oran Davis worked on the site and was paid another $200. It was revised to have Pastor prayer, cookies for Pastors and Members, and adding members is now being constructed. Board members must log in as pastors to see the back end of the CSL site; expect to spend 5 - 10 minutes in review. ========================== 5. BOARD MEETINGS Should the Board schedule regular bi-monthly meetings with proposed agendas such as this, rather than following our previous policy of yearly meetings with extra meetings called only to deal with new or emergency issues? Sindy suggested 1/ quarter. Generally a helpful time may be Tues/Thurs: afternoon 2:00pm. Board members were requested to send dates for Oct/Dec to the Secretary for the last week in October and December. There was general agreement that regular meetings would be helpful to conduct the business of the church. =========================== 6. DENOMINATION a. Briana is closing the Sanctuary of Divine Light * It is due to insufficient time (new baby, home, etc.). * She will continue participating with Crystal Silence League. * Her website will need repair or adjustment. Fred will arrange with Bri to roll over in the page code; There is a 3 day window before it's finished with its hosting. Bri will work with Fred to achieve the best way to finish it up. Data to be determined: domain name cost / year: - registration: 3-5 years - hosting: 30-50 / mo - redirect: negligible. Fred said that he could take over the hosting himself. * Sindy suggested commitment in duration be formalized for affiliates. There was some vocal agreement on this point. --------------------------- b. Review of Affiliation With Trolldomskappelet: Johannes Gardback, Benedikte Lindstrom, Ida Lunden They painted their building in the MISC colours and are performing Crystal Silence League prayers there, but have not yet sent a formal request for affiliation. Catherine is in correspondence. When and if they apply for affiliation, the Board will need to approve them. This is more or less a heads-up.
